Something tells me I haven't washed the jeep's tyres in far too long

They look orange in real life, this picture doesn’t make justice to all the brake dust accummulated.

there is something truly enjoyable about washing down wheels and watching all that goo flow away.

in the list of satisfying chores, it’s right up there with dusting, vacuuming, and mowing for immediate results and pleasure.

So are the Kia and the Jeep effectively yours?

Mine to wash and care for yes. I do a terrible job at the former.

But if my sister has a dinner party she takes my cars and dings the wheels because she’s not ocd as myself.

So really I get half and half

It’s natural blooming. There is a protectant in the rubber to reduce UV degradation but as most daily drivers change their tyres due to tyre wear sooner than the tyre would degrade anyway.

Saying that, degreaser or all purpose cleaner scrubbed down with a stiff nylon brush and then rinsed, dried and dressed will do wonders.

Makes sense, seeing as you seem to always have access to them.

These are a year old, does it degrade that quickly?

My sister’s too young to drive on weekdays, so she uses the bus instead

No, the tyre itself won’t degrade for a few years. It’s the protectant leeching out protecting the rubber, just as the natural oils leech out of un-painted plastic bumpers.

Kinja'd!!!

You can restore faded bumpers with a low setting heat gun (but it’ll make the plastic more brittle and less flexible each time, so no more than three times before you should replace the bumper), trim gels and coatings are a better option.

Is there some restriction where you can drive on the weekends but not during the week.

Experience.... Its kind of dangerous driving on the weekdays without any experience, plus cops sorta chill on the weekends, they’re normally non too pleased with minors driving (even with a driving permit)
